Day 2: Vienna - Budapest.
This morning, why not begin your Christmas odyssey in style, by taking an optional sightseeing tour of Vienna? Known as the 'City of Music' for its association with composers such as Johann Strauss, Mozart and Beethoven, Austria's romantic capital shimmers with Baroque elegance. The tour encompasses the city's principal sights such as the lavish Hofsburg Palace, Opera House and splendid St Stephen's Cathedral. Alternatively, enjoy time at leisure exploring Vienna's atmospheric Christmas markets, the 'Christkindlmarkte', which beckon from nearly every corner of the city. Browse through the colourful stalls picking up gifts of rustic Austrian handicrafts and sipping Glühwein, whilst admiring the lavish Christmas decorations on the city's trees - a distinctive feature of the Viennese markets. After soaking up the festive cheer return to your ship for lunch and our journey to Budapest, Hungary's beautiful capital.

After breakfast this morning, immerse yourself in Budapest, dubbed the 'Pearl of the Danube', by visiting either its famous Christmas Fair or joining an optional sightseeing tour. Held in historic Vorosmarty Square, the Christmas Fair bursts with rustic stalls selling hand-made artifacts and toys. Pick up souvenirs and treats such as Hungarian honey cake and strudel, and enjoy the festive puppet and folk dance shows that bring seasonal magic to the proceedings. The sightseeing tour encompasses the city's main sights, including its impressive Fisherman's Bastion, Royal Castle and opulent St Matthias Church, the coronation site of many Habsburg monarchs. After lunch on board your ship, the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. You may want to explore more of Budapest or revisit its Christmas Fair to savour more of the holiday atmosphere.
