We have chosen the attractive town of Fiuggi as the base for your 8 day Roman Discovery leisurely touring holiday.
In an excellent location with Rome only 60 kilometres away, and easily reached by regular local transport, Fiuggi is a perfect base for seven nights to explore the delights of this fascinating area. A picturesque and historical town dating back to Roman days, when it was renowned as a famous spa - Fiuggi can even claim that Popes have taken the waters! Now it is a modern resort with a varied range of amenities on offer, yet it still retains its traditional charm, as can be seen when wandering through the old town with its alleyways, quaint houses and small squares, typical of this 'Ciociaria' region.

Your itinerary
Day 1: UK - Naples - Fiuggi.
Fly to Naples where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for a seven night stay.
Day 2: Subiaco & Tivoli.
Our included full day excursion takes you to Subiaco, a picturesque town famous for its Benedictine monasteries, and then to Tivoli, where Cardinal Ippolito d'Este had a splendid villa with lovely landscaped gardens.

Day 3: Pompeii & Montecassino Abbey.
Our second included full day excursion takes you first to the amazing petrified city of Pompeii, buried by an eruption from Vesuvius in 79AD. Your included sightseeing tour, with local guide, gives an amazing insight into life in ancient Roman times. Then it's on to the towering peak of Montecassino, topped with an impressive Benedictine abbey.

Day 4: Anagni.
Relax in the morning, before we head for Anagni, the birthplace of four former popes, with a magnificent cathedral and a medieval quarter full of perfectly preserved buildings.

Day 5: Rome. Included sightseeing.
A full day in Rome. Our included sightseeing tour of the 'Eternal City' starts in St Peter's Square, followed by a visit to the Roman Forum and the mighty Colosseum.

Day 6: Fiuggi.
The day is yours to relax or you may choose to explore this picturesque and historical town at your own leisure. In the evening, why not join us for our optional 'Rome by Night' trip?

Day 7: Roman Castles & Frascati.
After a morning at leisure, our included half-day excursion with dinner takes you on a scenic drive into the Alban Hills to visit the ancient fortified towns, or 'Castelli Romani', and the lovely wine-making region of Frascati.
