Your itinerary
Day 1: UK - Las Vegas.
Fly to Las Vegas where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Las Vegas - Grand Canyon.
We cross the desert and the old Mohave gold-strike country, passing through Williams, located on historic Route 66 and the Kaibab National Forest to arrive in the Grand Canyon by mid-afternoon. Marvel at one of the Natural Wonders of the World as you experience the breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon. There's plenty of free time to wander along the canyon rim. A memorable evening is in store for you tonight, as we overnight inside Grand Canyon National Park.
Day 3: Grand Canyon - Monument Valley.
If you missed the sunset, sunrise is just as impressive! There is time for an optional 'flightseeing' tour of the Grand Canyon - definitely the thrill of a lifetime. Later take a scenic drive across the Kaibab Plateau and through the amazing Painted Desert. After a lunch stop we continue into Monument Valley, where the weathering action of wind and water has carved the famous sandstone spires and towers that rise hundreds of feet above the valley floor. You'll stay overnight at historic Goulding's Lodge with its panoramic views of the Valley. Take a dip in the pool and admire the western sky above or take time to explore the Goulding's Museum and Trading Post, part of the set built for John Wayne's film, 'She Wore a Yellow Ribbon'. Monument Valley has been featured in numerous movies, from John Ford's 'Stagecoach' to 'Forrest Gump'. Take a walk back in time with this wonderful collection of movie memorabilia and Indian artefacts.
Day 4: Monument Valley - Lake Powell - Page. Included jeep tour.
This morning's included jeep tour is a memorable way to experience Monument Valley. We then head to Page and visit the Glen Canyon Dam, holding back the waters of the Colorado River in Lake Powell, the USA's second largest man-made lake. In the afternoon, how about joining our optional Antelope Canyon cruise, which takes you onto the lake and into the tight winding canyons?
Day 5: Page - Bryce Canyon National Park.
Our optional early morning flight provides another unique perspective on Lake Powell. This beautiful sightseeing flight also includes Glen Canyon Dam, Wahweap Marina, Tower Butte and Rainbow Bridge, the largest natural arch on earth. We then travel into Utah along the Grand Staircase to Bryce Canyon, where erosion has created delicate towers and deep ravines in a myriad of fantastic colours.
Day 6: Bryce Canyon National Park - Zion National Park.
Today we travel to Zion National Park. Once a refuge for Mormon pioneers, it's a striking landscape of steep canyons and stone towers carved out by rushing streams over millions of years. There is plenty of time to explore the park: take the park shuttle, see the Visitors Centre, the Museum, take a leisurely hike, do some bird-watching, or join a Park Ranger to learn more about the animals, geology, plants and human history. You'll stay overnight close to Zion National Park borders.
Day 7: Zion National Park - Las Vegas.
This morning begins with a photo stop at the famous Mormon Temple in St George, the most important Mormon community in southern Utah. Afterwards, we head for the original 'Sin City': Las Vegas. The remainder of the day is yours to relax by the pool or explore the famous 'Strip'. Try your luck in a casino or see some of the fabulous shows that have made Las Vegas a major entertainment resort. Your tour director will be delighted to advise on interesting places to go and good value local restaurants. Las Vegas is a city unlike any other and it's yours to explore!
Day 8: Las Vegas - UK.
Transfer to McCarran International airport for your overnight flight to the UK.
Day 9: Home landing in the UK.
Maximum elevation on this tour is 8,300 ft.
