Experience the teeming streets of the Central District, Causeway Bay or Kowloon's 'Golden Mile'. Just an hour from the city's vibrant atmosphere are paddy fields and mountain ranges providing a further dimension to this unique holiday destination.
You can extend your 'Wonders of China and the Mighty Yangtze' tour with a 4 night stay in Hong Kong before returning to the UK via Shanghai.
Your choice of hotels in Hong Kong are the Metropark Kowloon or Eaton.
Hainan Island
You can extend your China holiday with a 3 night stay in the picturesque beach resort of Sanya Bay on Hainan Island. Located just off China's south coast, Hainan Island deserves its reputation as the 'Oriental Hawaii', enjoying a pleasant year round climate, tropical scenery and white sand beaches.
On the last day of your tour, fly from Shanghai to Sanya for a 3 night stay at the Holiday Inn Sanya Bay. At the end of your stay, fly back to Shanghai for an overnight stay, before returning to the airport for your flight to the UK.

Your itinerary
Day 1: Depart UK.
Overnight flight to Shanghai.
Day 2: Shanghai.
On arrival in Shanghai, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for two nights. The rest of the day is at leisure, which gives you time to experience the sophisticated and exciting city, once known as the 'Paris of the Orient'.

Day 3: Shanghai.
Today we immerse ourselves in cosmopolitan Shanghai, with tours of the surreal Yu Yuan Garden with its Ming Dynasty miniature landscapes, the famous Jade Buddha Temple, Shanghai Museum and a stroll along The Bund (Shanghai's famous waterside boulevard). After dinner you'll enjoy an included acrobatics show.

Day 4: Shanghai - Wuhan.
This morning is at leisure before your transfer to the airport for the afternoon flight to Wuhan - the capital of Hubei Province and scene of China's 1911 revolution against the Manchu dynasty, for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Wuhan - Yichang.
This morning visit Wuhan Provincial Museum with its extraordinary 5th century Chinese relics, before travelling to Yichang to join your cruise boat in the early evening for your four night Yangtze odyssey.

Day 6: Yangtze River.
Setting sail in the early morning, your cruise boat will glide through the dramatic Three Gorges Dam Five Stage Ship Lock and the hauntingly serene Xiling Gorge. A shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam site, one of modern man's most remarkable undertakings, completes an enthralling day.

Day 7: Yangtze River.
Another unforgettable day, with a shore visit to the Shennong Stream (or Lesser Three Gorges). We also pass through Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge.

Day 8: Yangtze River.
Today you will visit Shibaozhai - an ancient pagoda, known as the shining pearl on the Yangtze.

Day 9: Yangtze River - Chongqing - Xian.
You will disembark your cruise boat at Chongqing for a short city tour, which takes in the zoo (a chance to see pandas) and the Old Town area. Afternoon flight to Xian for a two night visit.

Day 10: Xian. Included Terracotta Warriors.
A much anticipated day discovering the highlights of Xian, one of greatest cities civilisation has ever known. You will see the breathtaking Terracotta Warriors - 8,000 hand-carved life-size warriors buried alongside China's first emperor. You will also visit the Banpo Neolithic Museum. In the evening, enjoy an included dinner and show at the Tang Palace Theatre Restaurant.

Day 11: Xian - Beijing.
We start with a morning tour of Xian's 7th century Wild Goose Pagoda and the stunning city walls built on foundations partially made from rice, followed by our flight to Beijing for two nights in this vibrant, historic city.

Day 12: Beijing.
An included full day tour of the legendary Great Wall of China at Juyunguan Pass. Stretching 6,000 kilometres and dating back to the Ming period, this startling edifice will stay etched in your memory forever. Other highlights include the Summer Palace with its ornate pavilions and halls and the fabled Sacred Way. In the evening, enjoy a Peking Duck dinner.

Day 13: Beijing - Suzhou by train.
Another fascinating day lies ahead with absorbing sightseeing in Beijing. We visit vast Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, seat of China's emperors. A visit to the 15th century Temple of Heaven also awaits before this evening, when you'll board an overnight train to Suzhou, one of China's most charming cities, known for its canals, arched bridges and silk-making.
Note: Accommodation on the train between Beijing and Suzhou will be in private sleeper compartments. There are two toilets in each carriage, one at each end, and a wash room. There is a dining carriage with a small bar on board.

Day 14: Suzhou. Included sightseeing.
After breakfast visit the Garden of the Master of the Nets, a beautiful miniature garden set beside a small lake, a Suzhou silk reeling factory and the city's enchanting Panmen Gate. You will then take a rickshaw ride to the canal for a short boat ride along its leisurely Grand Canal, before continuing to your hotel.

Day 15: Suzhou - Shanghai - UK.
Transfer to Shanghai Airport for your overnight flight to the UK.
