Your itinerary
Day 1: UK - San Francisco.
Fly to San Francisco where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for a two night stay.
Day 2: San Francisco. Included sightseeing.
Experience the charm of the 'City by the Bay' during our included city sightseeing tour. Marvel at the Old Spanish Mission Dolores, fabled Golden Gate Bridge, bustling Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 with its enticing shops and restaurants, Nob Hill as well as other landmarks. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy San Francisco in your own way. Why not ride one of the famous cable cars, visit Chinatown, the largest in the USA, or the Museum of Modern Art, soak up the hippy Haight-Ashbury district, shop for souvenirs in fashionable Union Square or enjoy a meal in vibrant North Beach?
Day 3: San Francisco - Monterey - San Luis Obispo - Solvang - Lompoc.
Travel to Monterey, made famous by John Steinbeck's novel Cannery Row and the first capital of California. In the afternoon we arrive in San Luis Obispo, set in prime Californian wine-growing country. There is time to enjoy the town's beautifully landscaped Mission Plaza, home to art galleries, cafés and shops. Afterwards, we travel to Solvang, the Danish Capital of America, and the setting for 'Sideways' movie. There's time to walk the flower-lined village streets and enjoy the quaint old world architecture. Windmills, thatched roofs, tasty bakery treats all add to the charming and unique experience of Solvang, nestled in the Santa Ynez Valley. Overnight in Lompoc.
Day 4: Lompoc - Las Vegas. Included sightseeing.
Head for neon-lit Las Vegas, the world's unofficial capital of gambling and glitz. After a tour introducing you to this incredible city's highlights, this evening make sure to experience some of the extravagant themed hotel casinos along its colourful Strip. Don't forget the free shows along the 'Strip' such as the erupting Volcano at the Mirage and the dancing fountains at the Bellagio. Trolley buses cruise the 'Strip' day and night allowing you to explore at your own pace. Today and the following day, you'll also have time to enjoy optional excursions, such as a thrilling night-time helicopter ride over the 'Strip' or a full-day, river raft trip along the Black Canyon below the Hoover Dam.
Day 5: Las Vegas.
A further chance to explore on your own. Cruise the 'Strip' or shop in one of the many malls and enjoy the variety of other attractions the city has to offer. Why not start your day in spectacular style with our optional morning flight-seeing excursion over the Grand Canyon? You'll get an unforgettable birds-eye view of this awesome natural wonder with its coloured walls plunging 4,800 feet into the Colorado River - a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Day 6: Las Vegas - Los Angeles. Included sightseeing.
Today we leave the neon lights for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Get acquainted with this endlessly fascinating city on our afternoon sightseeing tour, taking in Hollywood, the footprints of the stars outside Mann's Chinese Theatre, Kodak Theatre and other landmarks including elegant Beverly Hills and the legendary Sunset Strip.
Day 7: Los Angeles.
One of the world's most exciting cities, Los Angeles buzzes with activity and atmosphere, as well as designer shops, palm-fringed avenues and iconic Hollywood attractions. Today, a full day at leisure lets you immerse yourself in the city's delights or visit magical Disneyland or the amazing Universal Studios Hollywood.
Day 8: Los Angeles - UK.
Transfer to Los Angeles airport for your overnight flight to the UK.
Day 9: Home Landing in the UK.
