Your itinerary
Day 1: UK - San Francisco.
Fly to San Francisco where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for a three night stay.
Day 2: San Francisco. Included sightseeing.
Morning sightseeing in one of the world's most beautiful cities famous for its natural harbour, lush parks, cable cars, and bustling docks. Your tour includes the breathtaking Golden Gate Bridge and bustling, shop-filled Fisherman's Wharf. You'll also experience the notorious Alcatraz Island and stunning views over the city from the nearby Twin Peaks hills. The rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore further.
Day 3: San Francisco.
Today, delve deeper into this fascinating city with a day at your leisure. Return to Fisherman's Wharf to enjoy its multitude of stores, markets and excellent waterside eating spots. Stroll along Grant Street, the city's oldest road, running the length of Chinatown and Haight-Ashbury, which rekindles memories of Flower Power and the Beat Generation.
Day 4: San Francisco - Sonoma - Eureka.
Bid farewell to San Francisco this morning as we travel to the fertile wine-growing valley of Sonoma, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge en route. In Sonoma, enjoy a guided tour and wine tasting at one of the well-known wineries, before hitting the Avenue of the Giants, a 31-mile section of Highway 101 curling through soaring giant redwood groves. In the evening arrive at Eureka, hub of California's lumber industry, situated on scenic Humboldt Bay, viewing Carson Mansion, the elaborate Victorian home of a lumber baron on the way to your hotel.
Day 5: Eureka - Redwood National Park - Gold Beach.
Today, take the coastal highway through Redwood National Park, a magnificent amphitheatre of towering sequoias. Enter Oregon and continue along the scenic coastal road to Gold Beach, where the Rogue River meets the Pacific amid stunning beaches. This afternoon, relax and enjoy the scenic Rogue River while watching the seals and birds at play.
Day 6: Gold Beach - Florence - Newport.
An exciting day awaits as we journey to the pretty seaside town of Bandon-by-the-Sea. A sightseeing tour will show you its scenic beauty and charm. A photo-stop at the Bandon lighthouse, long the symbol of this coastal community. Next on to Florence, one of Oregon's most beautiful and charming coastal settlements where you're free to explore the historic Old Town with its shops and coffee houses. From Florence, continue north through the Siuslaw National Forest, past popular beach resorts to one of Oregon's favourite vacation spots - Newport on pretty Yaquina Bay. Late this afternoon enjoy an included visit to the Oregon Coast Aquarium that provides unique views of coastal wildlife and environment.
Day 7: Newport - Tillamook - Portland.
An enthralling day travelling the dramatic Three Capes Scenic Route to Tillamook. One thing not to miss along the route is the reading of signs which tell you the brief story of the ghost community that existed there 35 - 55 years ago. Our first stop is Cape Kiwanda to experience its spectacular views. Next, Cape Lookout State Park. From here we continue on to Three Arch Rocks. Our last stop on the scenic route takes us to Cape Meares State Scenic viewpoint situated on a headland, 200 feet above the ocean. A must see is the Cape Meares Lighthouse at 38 feet high - it is the shortest lighthouse in the state of Oregon. After visiting Tillamook Village, known for its cheese and salt-water taffy, arrive at Portland for an overnight stay.
Day 8: Portland - Seattle.
Enjoy a morning tour of Portland, dubbed the 'City of Roses', taking in Washington Park International Rose Test Garden with its archways and lush paths. Leaving Portland, we cross the mighty Columbia River into Washington State, stopping at the Mount St Helens Volcano Visitor Centre to learn of the dramatic eruption of 1980. If weather conditions are favourable, see the ice-clad dormant Volcano Mount Rainier. Later this afternoon we reach Seattle - surrounded by the waters of Lake Washington and Puget Sound, the city also enjoys spectacular views of The Cascades and Olympic Mountains. Our sightseeing tour includes the Seattle Center, site of the 1962 World's Fair and a stop at vibrant Pike Place Farmers Market.
Day 9: Seattle.
The whole day free to enjoy the 'Emerald City' of Seattle. Stroll the International District to absorb its Asian influences or visit the Waterfront, Seattle's gateway to the world. Alternatively, take a cruiseboat across Puget Sound or relax at one of the many seafood restaurants, that Seattle is famous for, or visit Woodland Park Zoo. Tonight an unmissable optional outing awaits - a fabulous waterfront meal and panoramic views from the observation deck at the 605 feet high Space Needle.
Day 10: Seattle - ferry crossing - Victoria. Included sightseeing.
After crossing into Canada, we board the ferry to Vancouver Island. Following time at the magical Butchart Gardens, it's on to Victoria for an afternoon tour of this stunning city's landmarks including Bastion Square, Chinatown, Beacon Hill Park, the Legislature Building and Thunderbird Park, with its fascinating totem poles.
Day 11: Victoria.
British Columbia's capital offers a myriad of sights and with the whole day free you can enjoy them at your own pace. How about exploring the fascinating Royal British Columbia Museum before hitting the stylish shops on Government Street? Or exciting whale watching at the Strait of Juan de Fuca followed by tea at the iconic Empress Hotel?
Day 12: Victoria - ferry crossing - Vancouver. Included sightseeing.
Travel Vancouver Island's east coast to picturesque village of Chemainus with its extraordinary outdoor giant murals of the early pioneers. At nearby Nanaimo, board the ferry to Horseshoe Bay and a further drive brings us to Vancouver, Canada's 'Gem of the Pacific' for an overnight stay. En-route to your hotel, you'll see Stanley Park, as well as historic Gastown and Chinatown.
Day 13: Vancouver - UK.
Transfer to Vancouver Airport for your overnight flight to the UK.
Day 14: Home landing in the UK.
