Amsterdam to Basel

Vacation Overview -

This 14-day vacation begins in Holland's colourful capital, Amsterdam. Enjoy a canal boat tour past the city's stately homes and 16th-century merchant houses, then cruise to Cologne for guided sightseeing. Stop for a visit of Koblenz, situated on the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, and continue up the Moselle as far as Trier. Enjoy a visit to Reichsburg Castle, towering high above Cochem, and a walking tour of Bernkastel. Then sail past the famous rock of the Lorelei, through the dramatic Rhine Gorge to Rüdesheim for a visit to Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum and a chance to try the region's famous Riesling wines. Enjoy guided sightseeing in Worms and Strasbourg, as well as excursions to Heidelberg to visit the red-walled castle of "Student Prince" fame and Germany's Black Forest before ending your cruise in Basel, Switzerland.

Ship Information -

AVALON TAPESTRY

The newest river cruiser in Europe.
Why is the Avalon Tapestry special?

New in 2006, the Avalon Tapestry is a new type of ship for river cruising, offered exclusively by Avalon Waterways on the English-speaking market.

Contrary to other vessels on the rivers today, the navigational bridge is located in the stern, behind the passenger section, thereby allowing for more spacious and gracious interior designs. The lounge and restaurant, located in the front of the vessel, give unimpeded views on three sides of the passing river landscape. The Sky Deck is a vast area for sunning, taking your pictures, or just relaxing!

Avalon Tapestry features the Silent Drive System (SDS) created to enhance guest experiences. SDS features ship engines located at the stern, separating it from the passenger compartment, allowing for a quieter cruise experience than traditional small ships.

The ship can accommodate 164 passengers in 80 staterooms and 2 junior suites.

Relax and enjoy yourself

The Avalon Tapestry provides a complete break from the pressures of every day. The public rooms are elegant, and the dining room is extra spacious. The cuisine and wines on board will surpass your expectations. Pampered by our crew, our guests will make new friends and enjoy the casual camaraderie that leisurely cruising creates. You unpack only once, then enjoy life by lazing on the Sky Deck as timeless landscapes pass before you.

Included values aboard the Avalon Tapestry are:
  • All staterooms feature large closets, individual climate control, telephone, coloUr satellite TV, radio, minibar, safe, hair dryer, and modern bathrooms with shower
  • Beds may be configured as two twins or one queen
  • The interior of the ships is non-smoking
  • Enjoy the onboard exercise room
  • Enjoy personal service from our English-speaking staff
  • Open seating with one sitting at mealtimes
