About your tourJoin with our expert guide as we experience some of the chilling
relaities of the Second World War. You will visit the fortress of
Breendonk, one of the best-conserved concentration camps in Europe.
We also go to the Atlantic War museum to see some of Hitler's
formidable line of defences round the North French coast - the
'Atlantic Wall'. On day three we visit the Dutch town of Arnhem, as
we repeat the steps of the 1st British Airborne Division. On day
four we visit Dunkirk, and the beaches where the defence and
evacuation of the British and Allied forces took place. We then
journey to La Coupole, the home of a gigantic underground bunker
designed by the Nazis to store, prepare and launch the secret V2
rockets that Hitler was counting on to destroy London and reverse
the course of the war. Finally we offer an optional visit to the
beautiful town of Bruges, with its stunning bridges, canals and
preserved medieval buildings.

Your itinerary

Monday
After leaving your chosen departure point early morning, you'll
take an afternoon channel crossing to France and check into your
Belgian hotel in Ostend during the evening.
Tuesday - Breendonk Concentration Camp /
Atlantic Wall Museum
This morning you can take a leisurely tour of the 'Atlantic Wall'
museum near Ostend, with its remaining wartime defences. During the
afternoon, you'll leave Ostend for Breendonk near Antwerp to
partake in a guided visit of its infamous Concentration Camp, now
preserved as a full-scale lasting memorial.
Wednesday - Arnhem
After an early breakfast this morning, you'll retrace the steps of
the 1st British Airborne Division as you visit the Dutch town of
Arnhem. Here in September 1944 our paratroops tried to capture the
'Bridge Too Far' in operation 'Market Garden'.
Thursday - Dunkirk & La Coupole
Dunkirk is your destination this morning, where you'll have an
opportunity to see the famous evacuation beaches, before continuing
into France to La Coupole, where Hitler planned to launch his V2
rocket attacks on England. Here you'll take a tour deep into the
hillside to see the assembly plants, rocket storage areas and
launching pads, as well as watching detailed film footage of the
war in this area.
Friday - Bruges & Home
You can either spend this morning at leisure in Ostend, or join us
on our optional excursion to Bruges. This beautiful Flemish City
has more miles of canalways than Venice and is famous for its
preserved mediaeval buildings, fine traditional lace making and
delicious Belgian chocolates. Pre-book for only £10.00 adult,
£8.00 child. During the afternoon you'll leave Belgium for an
afternoon channel crossing to England, to arrive within your home
area late evening or early next morning.
