About your tourThe Normandy Battles were perhaps the most crucial of the last
century. 6th June 1944 - Operation Overlord saw one of the most
intricately planned and excecuted exercises in Military history as
the Allied Armies landed on the beaches of Normandy to begin the
task of freeing mainland Europe from Nazi Occupation. Our five day
tour takes in those critical battle-sites in Normandy.

Day 1
Travel from your local departure point, via the Channel, and travel
to your hotel in Normandy where you will spend the next 4
nights
Day 2 Full day included excursion to explore
the sights of the British and Canadian sectors of the Allied
Landings and the Battlefields of Normandy. We will visit Merville
Battery, Pegasus Bridge and Ranville British Airborne cemetery
where over 2000 men lie at rest. We will journey along the Beaches
of Sword, Juno and Gold, calling at the town of Arromanches where
you may take lunch and view its splendid Mulberry Harbour system
that still lies in the Bay. Today's excursion ends at the German
Gun sight at Longues-Sur-Mer before returning to your hotel.
Day 3 After breakfast, we head for the Normandy
town of Bayeaux, which was the first major town in Europe to be
recaptured from Allied Forces. Time will be available to visit the
Battle of Normandy museum and the nearby British cemetery. There
will be time to visit the unique Bayeux Tapestry depicting the 1066
Battle of Hastings. After lunch we return to Caen to visit the
Memorial Peace Museum presenting its 20th century history. We have
an optional excursion this evening to the pretty fishing port of
Hornfleur where you may wish to dine in one of the many
restaurants. Pre-book for only £10.00 Adult, £8.00
Children.
Day 4 Today, we visit the American sector of
the D-Day beaches, so realistically brought into life in the film
'Saving Private Ryan'. Our excursion also includes visits to the
Omaha Beach site and the American Cemetery at Coulville Sur Mer
where almost 9000 perfectly aligned white crosses are laid in
memory of the soldiers who were killed in action in the area, then
onto Pointe de Hoc. After taking lunch our excursion continues to
Utah Beach and the American Airborne Museum in the Town Square of
St Mere Eglise, now home to one of the gliders used during the
D-Day invasion. Finally, we visit the German cemetery at La Cambe
where 20,000 soldiers were buried.
Day 5 Depart from your hotel after breakfast.
We will take a late afternoon Channel Crossing and continue your
homebound journey.
**Please note on May 04th 2009, we do not visit
the Caen Memorial and Peace Museum on the afternoon of day three,
instead we depart earlier for the evening visit to
Hornfleur.
