You'll stay for 3 nights at the 3-star Hotel Cathédrale
in the centre of Tournai, near the cathedral and main square. The
hotel has a bar, restaurant area and lift to most floors. All
bedrooms have a T.V., tea/coffee making facilities and a

located in the centre of Tournai. Lille airport is less than 25 km
away, the railway station of Tournai is 2 km away, and the national
Bruxelles airport is 85 km away.

Armistice Day in Flanders - 4-Day
Break
- Nov
9 - We arrive at our hotel in Tournai for a 3-night
stay.
- Nov 10 - In
Flanders Fields (included). A day spent visiting key WWI
battle sites, beginning at Sanctuary Wood, where British trenches
are preserved from 1915. We also visit the nearby Canadian Memorial
on Hill 62, then move onto Hooge and its museum, the military
cemetery and mine craters from WW1. Lunchtime is spent in central
Ypres. In the afternoon, we see Yorkshire Trench, the scene of
archeological work by the Belgian 'Diggers' and visit the grave of
a 14-year-old soldier, believed to be the youngest who died. We end
the day at Tyne Cot, the largest British cemetery of them all, with
more than 11,000 graves. In the evening, we attend the Last Post
Ceremony at the Menin Gate. B

Armistice Day (included). We travel to Ypres in time for
the Veterans' Parade in the main square, and the special ceremony
at the Menin Gate at 11am. After, you can attend a special concert
arranged by the Last Post Committee with military bands from
throughout Europe (optional). All funds raised from the event help
ensure the playing of the Last Post every evening. We stay in Ypres
for an evening meal (at extra cost) prior to the special Last Post
at the Menin Gate at 8pm. B
