- Day 1 - You fly to Rome where you'll be met and then transferred to our hotel in Grottaferrata for an overnight stay.
- Day 2 - A short scenic drive this morning to Castel Gandolfo (home of Pope's summer residence) and to admire the views over Lake Abano. We return to Frascati for a visit before continuing to Sorrento for a four-night stay. B,D
- Day 3 - Capri (optional). We take the ferry from Sorrento and in the company of a guide, we explore this pretty island (where Gracie Fields once lived), with its white-washed houses, colourful gardens, open-air cafés, intriguing alleyways and arcades full of shops selling island handicrafts, clothing, jewellery and ceramics. B,D
- Day 4 - Pompeii and Vesuvius (optional). Accompanied by a guide, we discover the history and life of the great Roman city of Pompeii, buried in the eruption of 79AD. We also drive to the top of Mt Vesuvius which commands spectacular views. Walk the final thousand metres to the summit to view inside the crater. B,D
- Day 5 - Positano and Amalfi Cruise (optional). Enjoy a relaxing day on our mini-cruise along the rugged Sorrento Peninsula. Cruising from the pretty marina in Sorrento, we will drop anchor off the island of Capri for a swim. The cruise continues to Positano, where you can go ashore, or stay on board and continue to Amalfi to explore the town which once rivalled the ports of Venice and Genoa. B,D
- Day 6 - Montecassino (included). We say farewell to Sorrento and return to Grottaferrata for a two-night stay. En route, we stop at Montecassino visiting the famous monastery, a German stronghold during World War II, but destroyed by Allied bombing before being re-constructed as an impressive replica of its 17th century predecessor. B,D
- Day 7 - Rome (included). On arrival, there's time at leisure to savour the special ambience of what was the heart of the Roman Empire. A great place to explore on foot, our included walking tour is a fantastic way to introduce the city's array of spectacular sights - the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Piazza Venezia and the Romans' greatest amphitheatre, the Colosseum (entrance to the Colosseum is extra, approx 12 Euros per person). - Day 8 - Our final day finds us transferring to Rome airport for your return flight home. B
