1.
UK to Munich
After your door-to-door journey to your chosen UK airport (see
page 7 for more details) head straight to the centrally located
Meridien Munich Hotel (5 Diamond) or similar. Once you've checked
in for your overnight stay, the rest of the day is free for you to
make yourself at home and do as you please in the city.
2. Munich to Passau
Begin your day with a morning tour of the Bavarian state
capital, including a visit to the Olympic Park built for the 1972
summer games, before heading to the border town of Passau to join
the MS Mozart cruise ship (5 Diamond). Settle in and enjoy the
comforts of shipboard living as you set sail this evening for your
cruise along the River Danube. B D
3. Danube Cruise - Durnstein - Vienna
We arrive early this morning in Durnstein, known to be the
loveliest town on the Wachau valley; Durnstein is a pretty little
baroque town surrounded by the fortified walls of Kuenringsburg
Castle, whose ruins dominate the town. Spend your time today on an
optional walking tour including a visit to Collegiate Church.
Continue cruising to Vienna this afternoon with the evening at
leisure. B L D
4. Danube Cruise - Vienna
This afternoon why not join the optional tour to the Schonbrunn
Palace, one of the most significant cultural monuments in Austria
(except June, July and August departures) or the Viennese Woods.
Alternatively, spend the day exploring the sights at your leisure
and soak up the Old World ambience of this lovely city. This
evening is at leisure on board your ship. B L D
5. Danube Cruise - Esztergom -
Budapest
Cruise into the twisting channels of the strikingly beautiful
Carpathian Basin and arrive at the old Hungarian town of Esztergom
early this morning. Explore some of the unique and picturesque
towns scattered along the hillsides of the Danube Bend on this
morning's optional tour. Arrive in Budapest late afternoon and
maybe join one of the optional tours.
6. Danube Cruise -
Budapest
Today is free for you to enjoy this lovely city at your own
pace. Explore the sights of Pest including St Stephens Basilica,
the main square at Deak Ter or the shopping strip at Vaci Utca,
before crossing the Chain Bridge to Buda ang taking the funicular
railway up Castle Hill to Buda Palace. Admire excellent views of
Gellert Hill and the Liberation Monument before visiting
Fisherman's Bastion and St Matayas Chursch for views of the
Parliament Building across the river. Alternatively, an optional
city tour is available. Return to the ship for this evening sailing
towards Bratislava.
7. Danube Cruise -
Bratislava
This morning explore the Slovakian capital of Bratislava on the
optional city tour available which takes in the major sites
including the Primatial Palais. Alternatively enjoy your morning to
do as you please, why not visit the hilltop castle for excellent
views of the city or Michael's gate, home to a medieval weapons'
museum. This afternoon rejoin the ship where we set sail for
Melk.
7. Danube cruise -
Vienna
Returning to Vienna, see the baroque Schoenbrunn Palace on an
optional trip; take in the state rooms, guest rooms and elaborate
gardens on a tour of the former home of the Hapsburgs. This
afternoon, you are free to explore the sights and soak up the Old
World ambience of Vienna at your own pace before this evening's
optional visit to a Viennese concert hall for a performance of
Mozart and Strauss. B L D
8. Danube cruise -
Melk
Reaching the small town of Melk this morning, view the immense
Benedictine abbey from the water, considered one of the most
impressive sights in Austria, before an optional tour of its ornate
interior. After taking a good look around, you might like to sample
some of the produce from the region's vineyards in the wine cellar.

9. Passau to Prague
Your Danube cruise ends this morning as you reach Passau:
journey by coach to the Czech Republic's capital, Prague, where the
4 Diamond Mercure Prague Centre, just a short stroll from the Old
Town Square and Wenceslas Square, becomes your home for two nights.
This evening, see the city by night on an optional tour. B
10. Prague
Renowned as one of Europe's most beautiful cities, the 'city of
spires' is a blend of baroque, rococo and art nouveau architecture.
Enjoy a walking tour of the highlights, including medieval cobbled
streets and ancient squares in the Old Town, before exploring
Prague Castle, the Royal Palace and St Vitus' Cathedral in the
Castle District. This afternoon, discover the hidden wonders of the
city at your leisure, perhaps visiting one of the many museums and
galleries or taking in the views from the Charles Bridge. B
11. Prague to UK
Return to the UK from Prague airport where your door-to-door
driver will be waiting to take you home. B

Travel notes River cruising
