China Regal Cruises on the
Yangtze River
Sailing with China Regal Cruises (3 diamond) offers you the
chance to delve into the culture and tradition of this ancient
country while enjoying comfortable on-board accommodation.
Regal's cruise ships were designed to meet international river
cruising standards: five decks provide ample public areas and your
reserved standard twin cabins (121 sq ft) have a private bathroom
(shower), air-conditioning and outside-facing window. You can also
upgrade to a suite (330 sq ft). You'll find that cabins are smaller
than most hotel rooms.
During the day, there is a choice of land excursions, as
detailed in the itinerary. The ship houses two lounges and two
restaurants, both offering Chinese and Western-style cuisine.
Buffet meals include complimentary soft drinks or local beer.
Please note that, due to mooring restrictions on the river,
boats may be tied up alongside one another, which can limit the
view from your cabin and involve a walk through other vessels to
reach the bank. Depending on the water level, you may have to climb
steps to reach the top of the bank.
Travel notes This spectacular
journey has made history with the recent construction of the Three
Gorges Dam, the world's largest dam and a wonder of modern
engineering, set to change part of the river's course forever.
Controlled flooding has already begun and will be complete in 2009.
In June 2003, the dam opened for the first time, raising the water
level 135 metres to create a large reservoir. Against the backdrop
of the imposing gorges this journey remains a geographical wonder.
Your cruise itinerary may be subject to operational changes due to
changing water levels, often at late notice.
